Another chapter of my life is beginning, so I guess it is
only appropriate that my blog starts up again to document it. This chapter will be my life in Las Vegas as
a singer in Donn Arden’s Jubilee! It is a 6 month contract, performing 10-12
shows a week at the Bally’s Hotel and Casino.
This chapter started with a road trip to Las Vegas. I am so thankful that I had Maarten to drive
with me or it would have been such a boring drive. It is not every day that one gets the chance
to drive across the United States of America, so we thought that we would take
full advantage of the opportunity and see as much as we could along the
way. We drove through 17 states, 3207.9 miles, saw
amazing places, visited wonderful people, laughed until we cried, got a little
bored and made unforgettable memories.
Here is a little bit about our day to day goings-on.
Day 1: Portland, Me – Shippensburg, PA
(547.4 miles)
Beautiful day driving and deals at the Bent & Dent
Day 2: Shippensburg,
PA – Chattanooga, TN (620 miles)
Luray Caverns on the way to Cyndy & Bruce's house
Day 3: Chattanooga,
TN – Carlisle, AR (475.3 miles)
Jack Daniel's Distillery and Beale Street in Memphis for oysters
Day 4: Carlisle, AR –
Amarillo, TX (618 miles)
Oak-la-homa!, Cattlemen's Café for some steak and Route 66
Day 5: Amarillo, TX
Snowed in in Texas, who-da-thunk?
Day 6: Amarillo, TX –
Holbrook, AZ (517 miles)
Closed down I-40, Cadillac Ranch and beautiful Arizona
Day 7: Holbrook, AZ –
Las Vegas, NV (424 miles)
Petrified Forest National Park and the world's largest Meteor Crater
And now we are here in Las Vegas! We are getting settled in and having a great time being together and getting to know the area. More to come as things progress!
